Volunteering: A Vital Pillar of the College

The primary mandate and role of the College is public protection through the regulation of Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs) in the province of Alberta.

The Federal Government, in its recent initiative “Volunteer Canada,” describes volunteerism as a “vital pillar of Canadian society.” Extending this truth to the profession of medical laboratory science, indeed our many volunteers are in fact a “vital pillar of the College.” Without volunteers, the work of the College would simply not succeed.

The College sincerely appreciates having such a wide and qualified range of volunteers contributing to the work of the College. The contributions these individuals make in the profession and within the community are numerous. College Council thanks all the hard working and devoted members who currently volunteer. This dedication and devotion to the profession only increases the positive image that the College strives to portray to government, fellow technologists, and the community at large.

Volunteer opportunities available

The College has numerous opportunities to volunteer on Council or the Legislation Sub-Committee of Council. The sidebar on the right explains the process of volunteering, the areas that are available, and the many benefits of joining together with other members to advance the profession.
